It just melts in your mouth – we can promise you that. It smells just incredible – we can sign that right away. And, it goes well with Konavle wine – food prepared under the bell – ‘Peka’! The only right one is home made and we know just where to find the best one.

You will not find it easily on the menus of Dubrovnik. ‘Peka’ requires the right preparation, tools, knowledge and it takes quite a bit of time to get it done. Therefore it is tough to find in many restaurants in restless Dubrovnik. However in Konavle locals prepare it with pleasure and ease following their long tradition. Konavle is a region just few kilometres from Cavtat, where authentic nature, crystal clear rivers, and an exceptional gastronomic tradition write unforgettable stories. Veal, lamb, home-grown vegetables, home-made spirits, wines and many other specialites can be found in Konavle. All of this combined with a visit to the first settlement in the area of Epidaurus (today’s Cavtat) makes an ideal trip ahead of us!

Description

Highlights 

Cavtat is a small, charming town that dates back to the 4th century B.C. formed as the first settlement in the area. It greets us with playful streets and gorgeous views. We take a guided walk, conquer the mausoleum on the hill and enjoy a coffee on the waterfront, we get some free time to explore and enjoy the views over the marina. We continue by the car/van to the area of ​​Konavle (10 min). On the river Ljuta by the mill we get to know the history of this area, enjoy the untouched nature, and find our place in the local restaurant by the river. By then, peka gets ready! Peka is one of the most famous local dishes today, just as it was back in the time of Yugoslavia. After the welcoming brandy, we indulge to the traditional dish. We also get to enjoy excellent home produced wine made of grapes from the local vineyards. Once we’re finished with the groumet meal we slowly get ready to go back to Dubrovnik!
